❤ Wedding Hair

Here are some of my top tips for brides to be on the run up to their big day!

* Have a hair trial - Every bride should have a trial, this will make the bride & the stylist more comfortable on the actual day.
Allow enough time to try 3 different styles. Make sure you bring your headpiece/veil or at least have a really clear photo of it.

* Booking your wedding hair - You should book your wedding hair 6-9 months prior to the wedding. Some salons have brides booked in up to a year in advance. Book your trial for 4-6 weeks before the big day.

* Wedding Style - Explain the style of your wedding and reception to your stylist. Bring photos of your dress, this gives the stylist an overall feel of your wedding.

* Be opened to suggestions - You may have an idea of your wedding hair in your head but you will never know until you try. You might fall in love with a totally different style. I have seen it happen to so many brides. So don't be scared to try it up, down or even adding in a few extensions it's only a trial you might be pleasantly surprised.

* Pictures - Take photos as you go along your trial. Some brides like to bring a friend along so they can take photos of different angles & give their honest opinion. The hair goal is to have every side as your " best side "

* Hairstyles you like - Do bring pictures of styles you like but don't assume you will look identical to the image of Jessica Alba you bring in. Everyone's hair type is different.
Hair terms like "soft waves", " big bun", "sophisticated" and "chic" mean different things to different people so pictures are the best way to communicate.

* Hair Colour - Always bring your colour into question when planning your wedding hair, if your hair is highlighted but you only ever get half a head done, you need to think that if the hair is pinned up a block of darker colour will be revealed underneath. You might want to soften it by adding some highlights underneath.

* Regular haircuts - Ideally you should have regular haircuts for around 9 months to the run up to your big day. I don't mean cutting 3 or 4 inches of each time but regular trims make a huge difference to having beautiful, healthy hair.

* Hair care - Pay special attention to your hair care routine 3-6 months before your wedding. Your stylist will recommend the best products for your hair type to ensure your hair is in tiptop condition.

* On the big day - Make sure your hair is product free on the day of the trial & on the big day itself. Many of my brides get a wash & blowdry the day before. If you opt not to get a blowdry have your hair clean, dry & product free. Avoid using a lot of conditioner, especially a leave-in one.
